Investment Officer

FINCA International, one of the world’s leading microfinance institutions, with over $700 million in assets  provides financial services to nearly 900,000 clients through 21 wholly-owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin American and the Greater Middle East. FINCA International is looking for an Investment Officer. The Investment Officer will lead the ongoing review (on at least a semi-annual basis) of the capital needs of the FINCA Network and assist the Capital Markets Group (CMG) to develop new financial structures and instruments to meet such needs by accessing commercial financings (debt and equity). The Investment Officer will be responsible for raising and negotiating loan funding for his/her assigned subsidiaries in co-ordination with the subsidiary CEO and CFO. In this connection, the Investment Officer will review and evaluate the financial plans of FINCA’s commercially viable affiliates through the monthly Asset-Liability Committees. (S)he will work on all aspects of the CMG mandate, including but not limited to:

  • Financial Planning and Assessment of Funding Gaps,

  • Investment Negotiations,

  • Lender relations,

  • Preparation of investment proposals to potential investors,

  • Deal structuring, documentation review, and closing,

  • Research and analysis,

  • Provide support for any/all CMG initiatives as required

  • Investor Relations.

 

Ideal profile:

  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Finance, Computer Information Systems, or other related discipline; or equivalent work experience,

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years relevant work experience,

  • International experience in FINCA countries an asset,

  • Strong financial management, finance, accounting skills

  • Experience in financial institution (bank, microfinance) loan negotiation, structuring disbursement,

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills,

  • High degree of computer literacy; familiarity with financial projections,

  • Strong organizational and managerial skills,

  • Ability to lead projects and work with a minimum of supervision,

  • Outstanding communication, organizational and interpersonal skills,

  • Fluency in English required, fluency in Spanish, French and/or Russian a plus

  • Willingness to travel,

  • Willingness to relocate to a FINCA country.
