FINCA International, an international microfinance non-profit network is seeking two interns to work in the New Business Development department to support the Public Sector Team. Both interns will be tasked with prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship of public sector donors as well as in supporting the development of new proposals as needed through internal and external research, writing, editing, budget formulation, and analysis of financial projections. The interns will be exposed to FINCA’s programs throughout Latin America, Africa, Central Asia, theMiddle Eastand the Newly Independent States of the Former Soviet Union. The interns may be responsible for leading independent research projects related to any of the public sector donors. The interns are expected to support the Public Sector team as needed with activities including, but not limited to, monitoring, donor stewardship, contract negotiation, proposal development, research, editing, writing, and some administrative duties.
Project Design/Proposal Development
- Conduct internal and external research as necessary for project/proposal development
- Assist Public Sector Team in writing and editing of proposals
- Assist Public Sector Team in producing project budgets
- Communicate with field staff as appropriate to get information required for proposals
Research on public sector donors
- Update FINCA’s databases of public sector donors
- Write reports as requested on donor prospects, cultivation and stewardship plans
Stewardship
- Assist Public Sector Team to update the database with Public Sector donor contacts
- Assist Public Sector Team to implement strategies for donor stewardship and cultivation
Monitoring
- Monitor specific, grant-related issues as needed
Administration
- Assist in administrative functions as needed
Knowledge and Education
- 4 year degree in relevant field (business, international affairs, development, etc) required
- Graduate level coursework in related field preferred (business, international affairs, development, etc)
- Proficiency in Spanish, Russian, or French a plus
- Excellent writing and communications skills in English
- Must be able to work independently and produce high quality work
- Willingness to take on significant responsibility
- Familiarity with microfinance preferred, but not required
