IMMEDIATE VACANCY: Program Manager
Position based in Washington, D.C.
About EFE
Education for Employment (EFE) believes that when young people have jobs and the hope of building a future for themselves, they help lay the foundation for secure and peaceful societies.
We currently operate in the Middle East and North Africa - the region with the world’s highest youth unemployment rate. There, we are helping young people to transform their lives by giving them the opportunity to work and the tools to create productive, independent livelihoods.
Through unique partnerships with business, government, education, and civic leaders in our countries of operation, we design tailor-made training programs that give unemployed young people the specific skills to get and keep a job or start a business. In our job placement programs, our trained graduates are placed in jobs that our partners commit before training begins. Graduates receive ongoing support such as mentoring through our alumni networks.
EFE currently has programs in Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, West Bank, Gaza, Yemen and is now expanding to Tunisia. Our programs are run by local affiliated non-profit organizations in each country that were co-created by EFE in partnership with local business and social sector leaders. Training includes such diverse vocational, technical, and professional fields such as accounting, air conditioner repair, land surveying, construction management, sales, and teaching, and critical soft skills such as leadership, interpersonal communications, and successful business behavior.
About the Position
Over the past five years, EFE has turned the basic concept of education leading to employment into operational reality across the Middle East and North Africa. The principal challenges for EFE going forward will be to secure the necessary resources to strengthen and grow with quality the current country operations and expand to new countries.
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Programs and Affiliate Services, the program manager will work with the DC based program team and in partnership with the EFE affiliate teams to support the affiliates in the EFE network as they build sustainable local non-profits in areas that include strategic planning, organizational development, fundraising, budgeting and financial management.
