The Netherland has lifted its suspension on aid to Uganda’s education sector. The country released last week 14 million euros (USD18.1 million) to support the development of primary education in Uganda, the Monitor reports.

The Netherlands suspended its funding for Uganda’s education sector in May 2009 after learning of alleged fraud in the procurement of some 459,000 textbooks for several schools in northern Uganda. The country’s decision to resume assistance follows the suspension of two senior education ministry officials linked to the procurement irregularities.
