Project Summary

 

The objective of the Amazon Region Protected Areas Program Phase II (GEF) in Brazil is to expand and consolidate the protected areas (PA) system in the Brazilian Amazon region. Emphasis will also be given towards establishing mechanisms for the project’s financial sustainability.  It also seeks to guarantee over the long-term, the conservation and sustainable use of the Brazilian Amazon’s biodiversity.

The World Bank (WB) estimates the total project cost at US$ 85.9 million.
